In the summer of 1989, a small handful of families had a vision to plant an evangelical church in the Hillcrest area of Cleveland’s east suburbs. We've been excited to see God at work in the lives of hundreds of people throughout the east side of Cleveland through the faithful and fruitful ministry of so many in our congregation.

I hope you'll visit us soon!

What to Expect

Worship Servicepaul.jpg

We gather for our worship services on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. until around 11:30 a.m. We offer Sunday School for children from birth through sixth grade.

You'll hear worship music, both old and new, done in a vibrant style by our music team using modern instruments and technology. You may see people with their hands up or down, eyes open or closed, but worship at Cornerstone is all about honoring and giving praise to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Listen to a sample of the music we play on Sundays on our Spotify playlist.

Of course, worship is more than just singing.  We also worship God as we hear and apply God's Word. We're careful to preach the Scriptures each Sunday in a way that is faithful to the text and applicable to our lives. Prayer is an important feature of our worship service as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cornerstone affiliated with a denomination?

Yes, we're one of approximately 1,500 churches in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Find out more about the EFCA at www.efca.org.

What is a typical service like?

You'll find people of all ages here who treat each other like a big family. About 300 people, including kids, attend here regularly on Sunday mornings. Our worship style is vibrant and modern. We have an excellent worship team that leads us in worship using the current instruments and sound technology. On any given Sunday you'll hear worship music in a contemporary musical style as well as classic hymns done in a fresh way along with multimedia technology.

You'll hear a solid, uncompromising message right from the Bible each week with a special emphasis on how we can apply God's Word to our lives in a very practical and meaningful way right where we live.

What should I wear to a service?

When you come here, you'll find that people generally dress in casual and what you might call "business casual" styles. Just come how you feel comfortable.

Will I be expected to give money when I come?

At each service we collect tithes and offerings, because God calls us to (Mal. 3:10) and because that's how any church receives funding to operate. But as our guest, don't feel any obligation to participate in this part of the service. It's primarily for our regular attendees and members.

How can I get a copy of one of the Sunday messages?

The easiest way is to just navigate to our Messages page and click on the message you'd like to hear or download. If you'd rather get a CD, just call our church office or sign up for one on a Sunday morning at the church.

Do you have a ministry for children?

We'll take great care of your kids from birth through sixth grade in our Nursery and Sunday School ministries. These ministries run at the same time as our service. All of our children's workers are screened and background-checked for the safety of our children.See our Children's page for more information about our children's ministries.

Do you offer Sunday School for teens and adults?

Sunday School ends after 6th grade. Teens join their parents in the worship service and also have Bible study at Youth Group meetings on Friday evenings (see our Youth page). For adults we offer a wide range of weekly Growth Group Bible studies that meet in homes or at the church for Bible study, fellowship, prayer and mutual support during the week (see Growth Groups).

If I like it here, how can I become a member?

Attend our CLASS 1.1: Membership @ Cornerstone class which is divided into three Sunday morning sessions - each about 50 minutes long. It’s a basic introduction to our church family designed to clearly explain our history, who we are, what we believe, what our church is all about, and how to get connected. This is a great opportunity to learn about Cornerstone Community Church, get to know one of our pastors, and meet others.

You don't have to become a member to attend the class -- it's just for your information. But if you would like to become a member, all three sessions are required. We'll explain how we operate, answer your questions, and explain how our membership process works. After the class you can decide whether or not you would like to join us in membership. Classes are offered twice a year.
