“Bringing The Hope Of The Gospel To The Heart Of Addiction”

WHO WE AREav logo

Addictions Victorious is a network of Christian support groups that partner with local evangelical Christian churches and ministries to help embrace struggling addicts, their loved ones and friends with the hope of the Gospel.

Our goal is to lead individuals who are enslaved by various addiction issues to Jesus Christ, who alone is able to provide complete forgiveness, salvation, and transformation. We also embrace, encourage and help loved ones and friends whose lives are affected by the addict’s destructive lifestyle.

This year, Addictions Victorious is celebrating 30 years of ministering to those who are enslaved to various addictions. There are established AV chapters in Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania. Ours is the first AV chapter in the state of Ohio.

AV is for those desiring to be free from the bondage of any kind of addiction in their own life, or a loved one or friend whose life is adversely impacted by the destructive consequences of addiction. Our meetings are open to men and women of all ages who are seeking lasting change in their lives. Common addictions include such things as substances (alcohol and drugs), tobacco, sex, pornography, gambling, pleasure, food, sports, work, success, etc.

A warm and friendly atmosphere that provides loving support and fellowship. We engage in genuine confidential sharing and caring, coupled with the study of the Bible and prayer. We also encourage and assist one another with building healthy relationships and connecting with a local church, thereby expanding the sphere of support resources to nurture ongoing accountability and spiritual maturity for the addict.

Addictions Victorious is currently not meeting, but will resume after the holidays. For more information please contact Sam Paternite at

6:30 – 6:45

Each meeting opens with a welcome, the sharing of testimonies, and prayer.

6:45 – 7:00

We watch a video lesson based on various chapters of The Heart Of Addiction, by Mark Shaw. There are 12 videos which are shown in an ongoing rotation so that everyone will become very familiar with the biblical truths contained in them. All participants receive a worksheet for that week’s lesson so they can follow along with the teaching, have access to the Scripture references given, and refer back to the teaching later.

7:00 – 8:00

Gender-specific care groups meet in classrooms adjacent to our auditorium. We also offer a mixed group for family and friends, as well as a discipleship group for those who desire to move forward into the Christian lifestyle, church membership and service.

8:00 – 8:15

We return to the Fellowship Hall for a devotional teaching and/or personal testimony. This is a time of biblical encouragement with a gospel presentation.

8:15 – 8:30

We enjoy a fellowship meal together. This is a time for getting to know people, continuing care group discussions, sharing stories, offering encouragement, and showing love through food and fellowship. We serve simple, ‘One Pot’ meals with salad and dessert.

Our desire is to embrace those who are struggling with addiction and help them to victoriously overcome it through the saving power of Jesus Christ and His gospel. We’re praying that the result of Addictions Victorious will not be making people meeting-dependent. Rather, our goal is to help them to become functioning members of the body of Christ, the church.
