Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Growth Group?

A Growth Group is a group of usually 8 to 14 people who meet together on a regular basis to study the Bible, discuss how it applies to their lives, personally connect with each other through fellowship and pray for one another.

Why should I be in one?

Biblically, every Christian is a disciple.  A disciple is a learner, a follower of Jesus Christ.  The Growth Group is our primary means of helping people grow into spiritually maturing disciples.  It’s where we can ask questions and learn from one another.  It’s where we learn how God’s Word impacts our daily life and how we can go about making it real and personal.

The Growth Group is also where we develop meaningful, supportive relationships with others.  It’s just not possible to develop close friendships when you only see one another occasionally on Sunday mornings.  Relationships take time to develop – they need regular interaction on a deeper level.  That’s what Growth Groups specialize in!

What are we aiming to grow in? We expect to :

– grow in our knowledge of the Bible

– grow in our love of our Savior, Jesus Christ

– grow in godliness

– grow in spiritual depth

– grow in our relationships with one another

When and where do they meet?

Growth Groups meet weekly on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Due to concerns about the current pandemic, all the groups will meet online through Zoom videoconferencing. At some point this may change if circumstances warrant it.

Our groups meet in the evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., but we also offer a group for women that meets on Wednesday mornings. See the chart below.

Our Growth Groups season is from September 2020 through the middle of May 2021.

What are we studying this year?

This year we’re beginning a new approach to our Growth Groups. Start this year we will be splitting our season into three parts:

  • We’ll study a book of the Bible
  • We’ll study a topic related to that book of the Bible
  • And then each leader will choose their own topic to finish the last eight weeks of the season

So this year we will study the book of Genesis, along with the topic of Creation, and finish with the leader’s choice of topic. A good grasp of the book of Genesis is absolutely foundational to our understanding of the rest of the Bible.

And as we do regularly, we will also offer a two-year study on marriage and parenting. In addition, we will offer a shorter study to help those who are newer to the faith to gain a good grasp of the foundations of the faith.

If you like your group, you can feel free to stay in it from season to season. If you’d like to change your group, you can switch to an open group.
