Welcome! In the summer of 1989, a small handful of families had a vision to plant an evangelical church in the Hillcrest area of Cleveland’s east suburbs. We’ve been excited to see God at work in the lives of hundreds of people throughout the east side of Cleveland through the faithful and fruitful ministry of so many in our congregation. |
Everyone’s Welcome
We’re glad you’re considering a visit to Cornerstone Community Church. We would encourage you to get to know who we are and what we’re about by browsing through our website. We offer a wide variety of ministry opportunities for people of all ages, and there are plenty of ways for you and your family to get involved.
When We Meet
Sunday Worship Service time: 10:00 a.m.
We offer Sunday School for children from birth through sixth grade during the service.
You’ll hear worship music, both old and new, by our music team using modern instruments and technology. You may see people with their hands up or down, eyes open or closed, but worship at Cornerstone is all about honoring and giving praise to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Listen to a sample of the music we play on Sundays on our Spotify playlist.
Of course, worship is more than just singing. We also worship God as we pray, fellowship, give, and listen to and apply God’s Word. We’re careful to preach the Scriptures verse-by-verse each Sunday in a way that is faithful to the text and applicable to our lives.
Communion: We share in the Lord’s Supper every 5 to 6 weeks. All those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation are invited to join us in the Lord’s Supper.
Who We Are
We are followers of Jesus Christ who gather to WORSHIP our Savior, STUDY God’s Word, SERVE one another in love, and REACH out to those who don’t yet know Jesus.
What To Expect
If you’re new to us, we encourage you to visit our Welcome Center on Sunday mornings where you will find some of our people who will be happy to answer your questions and help you find your place.
Is Cornerstone affiliated with a denomination?Yes, we’re one of approximately 1,500 churches in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Find out more about the EFCA at www.efca.org.
What is a typical service like? You’ll find people of all ages here who treat each other like family. About 300 people, including kids, attend here regularly on Sunday mornings. Our worship style is lively, sincere, and modern. We have an outstanding worship team that leads us in worship using current instruments and sound technology. On any given Sunday you’ll hear worship music in a contemporary musical style as well as classic hymns done in a fresh way along with multimedia technology.
You’ll hear a faithful, uncompromising message from the Bible each week with a special emphasis on how we can apply God’s Word to our lives in a very practical and meaningful way right where we live.
If I like it here, how can I become a member?Attend our Membership class which is divided into two sessions on Sunday evenings. It’s a basic introduction to our church family designed to clearly explain our history, who we are, what we believe, what our church is all about, and how to get involved. This is a great opportunity to learn about Cornerstone Community Church, get to know one of our pastors, and meet others.
You don’t have to become a member to attend the class — it’s just for your information. But if you would like to become a member, both sessions are required. We’ll explain how we operate, answer your questions, and explain how our membership process works. After the class, you can decide whether or not you would like to join us in membership. Classes are offered at least twice a year. |
What should I wear to a worship service? Our services are fairly casual. You’ll find everything from jeans to business casual. Come as you are!
Will I be expected to give money when I come?According to the Bible, giving should be a regular part of our worship (1 Cor. 16:1-2) but we don’t expect those who are new with us to give financially.
Can I watch your services online?Yes! We broadcast our Sunday morning services at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. here on our website.
How can I get a copy of one of the Sunday messages? The easiest way is to just navigate to our Messages page and click on the message you’d like to hear or download.
Do you have a ministry for children? We’ll take great care of your children from birth through sixth grade in our Nursery and Sunday School ministries. These ministries run at the same time as our worship service. All of our children’s ministry workers are screened, trained, and background-checked for the safety of our children. See our Children‘s page for more information about our children’s ministries.
Do you offer Sunday School for teens and adults?Sunday School ends after 6th grade. Teens join their parents in the worship service and also have Bible study at Youth Group meetings on Friday evenings (see our Teens page).
For adults, we offer a wide range of weekly Growth Group Bible studies that meet in homes or at the church for Bible study, fellowship, prayer, and mutual support during the week (see Growth Groups). |
