Psalm 23:2
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
This week, take time to go deeper by meditating on the Scripture from Sunday’s sermon and prayerfully applying it to your life. Here are some questions to work through in a journal or blank notebook.
- How have you seen God’s faithfulness to shepherd you throughout your life?
- When you are anxious, stressed, or having trouble, where does your heart turn? To God, who can make you lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still waters, or to some
form of self-comfort? - Psalm 1 indicates that a chief means by which we enter “green pastures” is Scripture. How is Scripture playing a role in your soul-rest, currently? Does something need to change in your relationship with the Bible? How might this influence and help your soul to be restored?
- Get away for one hour this week and meditate on Psalm 23 and pray through its words. After this hour, how did God use His words to restore and encourage you?
- What are some hindrances in your life that prevent God from leading and restoring you, which need to be removed? Ask the Lord to help you to repent and remove them. Is there a brother or sister in the church who you could ask to pray with you about any hindrances?
- Read Matthew 11:28-30. What might it look like if you were to come to Jesus the way He invites you to?
